Drawing - Man

July 2009

I've recently started drawing again, for the first time in 12 years, and I am really, really enjoying it. They organised a series of life drawing sessions for us at work and I've been attending every week.

I did this in our fourth session. The guy was an older gent, with a fabulously lined face, and a mop of unruly hair. I really enjoy drawing with a red pencil, as I find it more organic, and prefer building up the shading with it, as opposed to a regular grey pencil. This was a 10 minute sketch, and I tried to keep it very loose. The dark half of his face could have done with quite a bit more work but I kinda ended up getting a bit bored with the pose.

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner at home, so this is a photo from my sketchbook. Paper, Daler Rowney soft tipped sanguine sketching pencils.
