Drawing - Woman

July 2009

I've recently started drawing again, for the first time in 12 years, and I am really, really enjoying it. They organised a series of life drawing sessions for us at work and I've been attending every week.

This was a 15 minute sketch, done in my first session. I was really happy with the way I captured the model's expression. She seemed to have mentally left the room, and I really wanted to capture the expression on her face. I rushed the hair because I was running out of time. I drew this with my sketchbook sitting on my lap instead of drawing on my easel, so I was quite glad that there aren't any major perspective or proportion issues.

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner at home, so this is a photo from my sketchbook. Paper, Lyra Super Ferby graphite pencil.
